Who Was Jesus?

I slept really well, but had to wake and take two Advil somewhere near 7am. I woke for keeps at 7:50am with no headache. I checked with Mindy, she wasn’t going to church and planned to sleep until she woke naturally. I headed downstairs to get the day started. After starting coffee, completing my exercises and walking Ykraps, I took to the PC. Jacob soon joined me downstairs and asked if I might include him on my run with him following along on his new bike. Sure! I told him that I didn’t plan to leave for another hour or so. I continued work on adding a photo slide show to the front page of my blog. I’ve got upwards of 2000 photos saved via Picasa that should port over easily. However, I was experiencing some issues, but nothing worth stressing over. Mindy got up around 9am. After some coffee together, she made plans to make breakfast: eggs and bacon. In turn, Jacob and I readied for our run/ride. We headed out into the sunny morning with the temperature around 45 degrees. It was quite lovely. Of course we kept our trail inside the subdivision, but I still had to keep a careful eye on Jacob as we crossed streets and what not. I noticed that he wasn’t taking much care to look both ways as we’d cross. Never once was he in any danger but my worry was that he didn’t have a habit of even looking. I also didn’t want to hammer on him for it either. I tried to use some subtle coaching tactics. He got better at by the time we made it around the three mile trek. He asked why I trimmed a mile off. I explained that every now then I do that on Sunday’s just to give myself a psychological break. Inside, breakfast was just about ready. I was starving. Soon, we were eating our bacon and eggs. Mindy made big fluffy biscuits, too. After breakfast, Jacob paced the house bored to tears. He asked more than once if he could go rouse the neighbors. No! Later, I told Mindy that when he casts his boredom onto us that we should give him a chore and make sure he does it. That should cure the problem after one or two times. My goal was to work in the yard. There were several things I could do. I decided my time would be best spent working on the retaining wall extension. I fetched my post hole diggers and trench shovel and got busy. I dug the last four post holes in about 45 minutes. Next, I pulled two 4X4”s I had stashed under the deck and cut them to size – 3 at 38” and one at 36”. That went well. I spent all the time I could on the wall project. Before progressing further I had to get some concrete, 2X8s, and lag bolts. Next, I decided to take care of a few tasks that have been on my list of outdoor to-do’s for quite a while. First, I trimmed some branches from one of my red maples around the deck. I missed these branches last year when I did my annual early summer pruning. I never did drag the tree prunners back out until now. Next, I retrieved my extension ladder from the garage and hauled it to the tree swing area. Finally, after almost two years I trimmed a couple large branches that impede ones ability to swing full and freely. And since I had the extension ladder out, I decided to tie up the loose West Virginia Creeper vines that broke loose form the large ash trees in the middle of our yard. I used natural brown string that left the repair almost indistinguishable. Hopefully the vines will reattach themselves over the coming months. Jacob was curious about the ladder and was looking for something to do. I allowed him to climb in to about 12 feet after giving him some ladder climbing pointers (three point contact) at all times. He was afraid at first but quickly warmed to it. It was already after 3pm. We would typically begin organizing our afternoon to attend Sunday dinner. But because Mindy wasn’t feeling 100%, we cancelled out and planned our own little family dinner. However, before dinner, I was asked to retrieve Bella from Kaileigh’s. After my shower I headed out. The nice sunny weather we enjoyed all weekend long was quickly moving out of town, being replaced by chilly temps and clouds. I remembered to grab my Lowe’s gift card from Xmas on my way out the door. I stopped at Lowe’s and the ATM on my way to fetch Bella. I stopped at Lowe’s to pick-up that spud-bar I wanted. I stopped at the ATM to get some cash. I must’ve fetched Bella around 5pm. Mindy called while in route back to the house to let me know that she was grilling the chicken breasts on our new grill, its first use. Dinner was good. We had grilled boneless, skinless chicken breasts, green beans, rice, and rolls. After dinner I walked Ykraps, who I had mistakenly left in wait through dinner. After dinner all four of us played Apples to Apples. I won! Mindy got the kids ready for bed and allowed both to watch 30 minutes of TV from their beds. Jacob does this nightly, but this was Bella’s first pass. After all, she was on spring break. While the kids watched their TVs from bed, I tuned the family room TV to the Discovery Channel, Who Was Jesus, a three hour program piecing what his life might’ve been like by using historical and archeological evidence often contrasted/compared with biblical accounts. I found it fascinating. Mindy watched the first two hours but grew tired and went to bed at 10pm. I stayed up for the entire program, or until 11pm. Glad I did.
