Encounter with God & New Running Shoes

I was up just before 5:30am and felt really good. Not a single ache, pain, or stiffness, at least none worthy of mention. I was fully engaged in exercise by 5:35am. I skipped push-ups to give my neck a short reprieve. I headed out with Ykraps hopeful of seeing that lovely full moon again. I was disappointed to find cloud cover overhead. Confused, I checked the weather forecast when I got back home. I was sure that it was supposed to be sunny again today. Turns out, that hadn’t changed. However, a narrow band of clouds was working its way through our area. It was expected to clear soon. I enjoyed uninterrupted coffee time since I didn’t have to wake Mindy. I took my time with each phase of my pre-run ritual. I didn’t head out for my run until 6:40am. The sky was already brightening in the east as the cloud cover overhead moved out. The temperature was borderline chilly – mid 30s. The run went well. I was lost in my thoughts for the better part of the 4+ miles. Mindy mentioned the desire to be up at 7:30 to get her day underway. After starting my breakfast it was just about that time. I was going to deliver coffee but she made her way down the stairs and prepped some for herself. Equally, she agreed to see Jacob onto the bus allowing me the extra time to primp. Mindy would have the morning all to herself after getting Jacob on the bus since Bella spent the night with Kaileigh. She hada full agenda, however. She planned to register Bella for 1st grade with Hilliard schools, get a hair cut, and have the oil changed in the Honda. While at the dealership, she planned to pick-up a cargo net too, to help prevent groceries from rolling around. Before heading off to work, I made sure I had my Finish Line coupon in tow with hopes of picking up new running shoes later that afternoon. I also took my irrigation system literature. I need to arrange an inspection of the backflow device before the water company will recognize my deduct meter. I left for work at 8:10am. Traffic was smooth. I was at work by 8:25m. The morning went by quickly. I left for lunch at 12:45pm. My first stop was The Finish Line at Tuttle Mall. I found a pair of new Nikes that were similar to my last two pairs. They were on sale for $75. I saved another $10 with my coupon. Yippee! I like saving money. I was pretty quick at the mall, gone from work only 25 minutes. What the heck, I headed over to Home Depot to fetch the materials I needed to finish my retaining wall project. I had them cut two 12’-2X12” pressure treated boards at 67” & 77”. I also picked up 16- 3/8”X3.5” lag bolts and washers, and then three bags of concrete. I was set. Grand total - $50. Back to work. I ate my lunch once I was back at my desk. Yes, I remembered to wash my hands first. The afternoon moved along at a reasonable pace. I left for home just after 5:30pm. Mindy was grilling pork chops on our new grill. The weather, by the way, was superb - 62 and sunny. Sadly, this might be the warmest day looking out even ten days. Where are my 70s and 80s? Even though Mindy was making diner, she stopped what she was doing to walk Ykraps with me. Wasn’t that sweet? Everything was ready and being held warm. We walked our regular route taking our time drinking in the lovely spring evening air. Mindy’s haircut looks good. Not hugely different. Mindy put dinner on the table as soon as we were back home. We had grilled chops, rice, green beans, and tater tots. I used hot sauce for dipping my chops and tater tots. Jacob did the same. As usual, Jacob wanted to leave the dinner table early and go play, but Mindy made him sit with us for family time. That must seem like torture to a nine year old. Bella was especially whiny, perhaps a byproduct of staying up too late at Kaileigh’s the night before. According to Mindy, she was extremely over tired. After dinner and clean-up, I went to the family room floor to stretch out and nap. It felt awfully nice. I slept for nearly 30 minutes flat on my back with no pillow. For the first time ever, I dreamt I had an encounter with God. Like often happens, though, I couldn’t recall the details of my dream upon waking, just the good feeling associated with the encounter. I laid still on the floor for a while as I slowly regained energy. After waking, I spent a considerable chunk of time updating my blog. I hadn’t published an entry for several days, but had all of them written. Finally done around 9pm, I returned to the family room & the TV while Mindy played on her laptop. There was nothing of interest on the Science Channel so I watched a show about Mexico’s top beach resorts on the Travel Channel. And since Mindy and I are still mulling our adults-only vacation options, it seemed a sound choice. Like most nights, we headed to bed around 10pm.
