Taxes, Anniversary, & More Sunlight

I slept darn good once again. I was up and out of bed just before 5:30am. By the time that I got downstairs and ready for exercise it was 5:31am. Also, the streets were wet again this morning, and it was still raining, although lightly. I did sit-ups and skipped the rest in order to give my neck a rest. Soon Ykraps and I were doing our morning walk. It was in the low 40s. The rain was expected to end later in the afternoon and eventually give way to a handful of sunny/warm spring weather days . Here’s to that! After some coffee of my own, I delivered Mindy’s. She was thankful and soon got up. I returned to the PC where I read Glenn’s blog, and more pointedly about his search for a deal on a Honda Fit. At 6:15am I started meditation and later some stretching. I got out for my run on time. It was no later than 6:35am when I headed out. Of course I still had to do my outside leg stretches. The day stood out over others for a number of reasons. First, it’s income tax day, but my taxes have been done for some time. Secondly, it’s the fifteenth anniversary of owning my home. Closed and moved in April 15, 1994. But more relevant to my everyday life, this day marks the return of more morning daylight than I have had sine last fall. If you remember, its progress was halted with the onset of DLST some six weeks ago. Yesterday got us back to where we were the day prior to the time change. I was a bit disappointed that it was cloudy/rainy making it less obvious that there was more daylight for my run. All that aside, my run went exceptionally well. I felt terrific. Mindy was frying eggs when I got home. There was no Bella to contend with since she spent the night with her grandma. And Jacob headed upstairs a couple minutes after I got back from my run. Mindy had a much more leisurely commute to look forward to. She could drive straight to school without any stops or worrying about anyone else’s needs. I enjoyed my fried eggs and fruit. Mindy had my lunch already to go: veggies, fruit, and nuts. I added a can of tuna as well. She left around 7:30am. I headed up for a shower a few minutes later. Because it was raining, I didn’t head out with Jacob again today. Instead, I watched from the door as he boarded the bus. I left for work at 8:10am. Given that it was Wednesday, it was a golf day, but because of the rain, I was 99% sure it wouldn’t happen. But looking at the brighter side of things, Mindy & I would most likely have a dinner date instead. The work day plodded along initially, but by mid-morning things got dicey. Our weekly staff meeting was canceled and a single issue ended up consuming the rest of my work day. Of course that helped the day fly by. I talked with Mindy late afternoon. She was heading to the party store as soon as Jimaken picked up Jacob & Bella to fetch a few things for Jacob’s birthday party this weekend. We made plans to visit CBC’s happy hour. We’d meet at home around 5:30pm. I left work at 5:15pm to ensure that I would make it home in time. I walked Ykraps in a sprinkle. Mindy wasn’t home until 6pm. I used the time to catch up on the day’s activity, including the stock market’s performance. We left for CBC around 6:10pm. We arrived 10-15 minutes later. The bar was almost full, but there were two seats just for us. We didn’t recognize the bartender/server. We haven’t seen Kevin in quite a while. We quickly ordered beers, me an IPA and Mindy a Porter. A few minutes later we ordered some appetizers: calamari & wings. Mindy ordered a spinach salad, too. We ate our food and sipped our beers. We didn’t stay too long. We asked for our check around 7:20pm. Mindy picked it up. Jimaken phoned as we were leaving letting Mindy know that he was on his way back to our house with the kids. I forgot to mention that I booked our adults-only vacation to Cancun earlier in the day. It’s nice to have that out of the way and waiting for us. We’re excited to be staying at one of the nicest resorts in all of Mexico (rated #7 by the Travel Channel). We weren’t home but five minutes before the kids arrived. Jacob was eager to show me his new bike helmet his father bought him. It’s a full helmet. It looks like a storm trooper helmet or a motor cycle helmet complete with a face guard. Jimaken left Mindy & I opening night tickets to the Clipper game for this Saturday. This will be their first game ever in the new stadium (Hunnington Park), and now we’ll be able to say that we were there. Mindy made the kids shower before bed. At the same time, I updated my blog. After blogging and getting the kids tucked into bed, Mindy & I watched Idol elimination night. I popped some corn a little too early. The smell woke both kids. They asked if they could join us for some popcorn. Yes. They were up for an additional 15 minutes. They were rushed back to bed around 9:20pm. Matt was eliminated on Idol, but the judges used their one save to bring him back next week. Still holding at 7. They’ll be two going home after next week. We headed for bed soon after Idol concluded.
