Bakugan

Up early once again. I was up and exercising by 5:20am. All systems were go. It snowed a little more overnight leaving a coating of snow covering the ground. It was cold, too. As reported everywhere, this was one of the coldest mornings of the season. It was 25 degrees. There was a light breeze blowing too making it feel even colder. It was hard to imagine it being in the mid 70’s just ten days prior. The coffee never tasted better. Not sure if I could attribute that to the cold or the new creamer I’m using – chocolate caramel. It has a delicious, malty flavor. After following through with my usual pre-run morning agenda, I dressed warmly for a run. I went to the basement to dig additional winter peripherals (toboggan and headband) out of the ski gear tub. I couldn’t find the headband. Oh well. In brutally cold weather I use the headband somewhat like a dickey. It helps keep cold air from blowing down the top of my running jacket. I was quite comfort in my attire. It felt great being out there battling the elements. My run concluded just before 7:10am. I had Mindy fetch me her van keys so I could warm it up for her and Bella. There was a thick coating of frozen snow on all the windows. Inside, Mindy served up scrambled eggs topped with cheese. They were very good. Soon she and Bella departed for school. Like usual, I darted off for a shower. Jacob & I left for the bus stop at 7:58am. It was cold, but we still tossed the football. Jake never showed. Doing the math, I figured he was ill after acting as much yesterday. I had enough foresight to start the Trooper before walking to the bus stop. She was warm and ready upon my return. I was quite pleased to see gas at $1.69 per gallon on my drive in. Work went well. As usual, we were very busy. At lunch I visited Target & Home Depot. At Target, I looked for the Bakugan creatures as well as Wii stuff. I overheard a sales associate inform another inquisitive shopper that they wouldn’t have any Wii Fits until Black Friday – the day after TG. Sounds like a good strategy but also a problem for early shoppers. I guess as a major retailer you don’t want to give up all your in-the-door leverage before the big shopping day. Next door at Home Depot I checked out ladders and reciprocating saws in an effort to determine which models I would prefer should Mindy want to gift me these things. Ladder-wise, I don’t want a big heavy-duty thing. Instead, I simply want a light weight aluminum alternative to my ridiculously heavy 28’ fiberglass extension ladder. The 20’ will do. That way I can use it for most jobs inside and out. Verdict’s still out on the saw. I looked at external light timers too. One of those would come in real handy for the Xmas light project. It never ends! Back at the office by 2pm, the afternoon went incredibly quick. Mindy communicated that we’d be having pork roast leftovers with a fresh batch of instant mashed potatoes. I was down with that. I walked Ykraps as soon as I got home. It was still really cold. The pork roast was just as good, or even better, than it was fresh. After clean-up, Mindy had the kids get into their jammies early. Afterwards, she & the kids watched a DVD. Mindy baked some M&M cookies as well. In the meantime, I worked on my blog. I finished up almost on queue with the movie’s ending. Mindy & I watched the end of House and then all of Fringe before heading to bed.
