Devil Ray's Done
I was up just after 5:30am and felt fine. For this reason alone, I was pleased. It looked very much like this was going to be another banner day weatherwise. The forecast called for sunny & 85. Like usual, I blew through my morning routine and eventually set out on my morning run. I was right on schedule.
I ran four miles, making this the seventh day in a row. I felt good, too. I noticed, however, that my pace has slowed, but that’s OK. It’s not about the time. Instead, it’s the physical/psychological benefit.
I packed a light lunch and made fried eggs for my breakfast. Mindy made sure to get up and spend a few minutes with me prior to my departing. She also helped with the take-off by moving the Trooper onto the street so that I could get the BM’er out. Not only was this a banner BM’er day, but also a golf day. I decided that I would forego Jacob’s tournament game slated for later in the afternoon in favor of my Wednesday golf. I hadn’t missed but one other game all season. But turns out, he missed that one too if you remember.
Work was busy. I was pretty running everything on my own. I worked straight through just as I often do on golf days. I left for Golf at 4:30pm sharp. And just as I had hoped, the traffic was lighter than usual, I assumed due to the holiday week. Lots of folks likely schedule vacation this week. But even still, it took a good 40 minutes to get to Split Rock in Orient. I arrived just a minute or less ahead of Bob I. Meanwhile, Bob B & Chuck were already there and waiting.
Not five minutes later we were teeing off on #1. I double bogeyed the hole even after being within 15 feet in three. Hole #2 was more of the same. I was on in two but three putted again. My putting is killing me this year. Save for a miserable showing on perhaps their toughest hole, a blind par 5, I played fairly decent the rest of the way. I got a firkin’ nine on that hole – lost two balls. I ended up shooting a 46. I am happy with bogey golf given my frequency of play.
We finished our nine holes at 7:19pm. I phoned Mindy just before leaving. She was just arriving home from Jacob’s game. I arrived home at 8pm. According to Mindy, Jacob played a good game and finally batted again, but even still, the Devil Ray’s lost. Their season was over! Darn!! :) I noticed immediately the strong odor of gas once in the garage. A quick glance around, I spotted my mower gas container setting out of place close by the soda. I figured almost immediately that Lindsey had been over and took my gas. It was a nearly full five-gallon container. Now, it was all but empty. Once inside the house my suspicions were confirmed. Lindsey stopped over with her kids and ran out of gas in front of the house. Not only did she mooch money from uncle Glennie, but took about four gallons of my gas, too. For a number of reasons, I wasn’t at all pleased.
After thinking it through, I eventually placed a call to her at Kelly’s place. I let her know that I considered that stealing given the situation. I was admittedly very stern and assertive. In turn, she was rude and resentful. For whatever reason, she blames Mindy for my response and had some very unkind words for her. In truth, Mindy has often been her only advocate. And honestly, our relationship (Lindsey & I) was fractured long before Mindy was in the picture. Duh! Lindsey is bitter that I treat “Mindy’s kids”, my step-children, better than her or my grandkids. Oh my! It really wasn’t about kids at all. I love my grandkids. Instead, it was just about the gas. Enough dirty laundry, however.
Glenn, Mindy, and I hung out for another hour or so. Glenn, Mindy, my Dad, and the kids planned a trip to the Der Dutchman for Thursday breakfast. I’d be working. Sounds like Dad would be driving. Mindy & I went to bed at 10:30.
