I had dreamt that I was in a race that covered hundreds of miles and spanned several days. And somehow my waking periodically for a time check was neatly woven into the fabric of my dream. It all seemed to make sense during my slumber. After each wake for a time check I would return to the race comfortable with the time. As is often the case, it makes little sense after the fact, but makes complete sense while dreaming it. It's not until we wake and reflect that we find little rhyme or reason.
I was simply thrilled to wake on time, and actually be a few minutes early. I felt completely rested as I completed the final half hour of sleep. My transition to total consciousness was a smooth one. I wandered down the stairs to begin my day. I could hear rain bouncing off the sky lights. It was coming down rather lightly, but a glimpse out the rear door was enough to convince me that it rained awfully hard through the night. There were huge puddles in the back yard that only form when the ground is completely saturated or when the rain’s coming down too quick for natural run-off to occur.
My immediate thoughts were towards my morning run. I don’t really like heading out in a down pour, especially when it’s cold and raw. I finished my sit-ups rather quickly and soon headed out the door with Ykraps. Our short walk, I reckoned, would better gauge the weather’s misery factor. I chose not to use an umbrella, but perhaps I should’ve. It was coming down at a pretty good clip. We got wet to say the least.
I was happy to arrive back home. I enjoyed coffee and internet before heading up with Mindy’s coffee. Bella was in bed with Mindy. Back downstairs I enjoyed a good meditation before setting out on the day’s run. It was still raining but had lightened considerably. As it turned out, most of the water I collected during my run was on my ball cap and my shoes after mis-stepping into a few deep sidewalk puddles.
Mindy had my breakfast casserole warmed upon my return. I removed my wet running shirt as it clung to me like wet skin. I inquired of Jacob’s disposition since he was home ill the day before. Mindy said he was feeling considerably better. He was still not eating like his usual self, however. Give him time.
Mindy soon departed leaving Jacob and I alone. We left together for the bus around 7:55am. It was raining steadily once again. Jacob rode with me to the bus stop where we waited for about three or four minutes. He left the Trooper and then boarded the bus.
I arrived at work around 8:20am. It was a crappy morning weatherwise, especially compared to yesterday’s spring-like blessing. I worked through the morning hours, leaving for lunch around 12:45pm. I visited Target where I shopped for Mindy’s birthday gifts. I was there for almost 45 minutes. Most of that time was spent fretting over a laptop case/bag. I finally selected one and headed back to work.
The afternoon drug on like the day before. That’s highly unusual in my world. They day usually rockets by in a blur. Lately, however, that hasn’t been the case. Instead, the time seems to drag. However, I got really busy during my final hour. It flew by. I didn’t get out of the office until 5:45pm. It was raining heavily as I dashed for my Trooper. What a drippy, dreary day.
Mindy reminded me that we were having pork roast when I phoned her along my drive home. Ashley called too to see if I was coming over to install her dryer venting. I declined for wanting to stop and vote. I stopped at Raymond Golf Course, directly across from our subdivision to vote. Why does it ALWAYS rain on election day? I ran inside to do the deed. I was pleased to encounter no lines whatsoever. I was ushered directly to the voting booth after showing ID and professing party affiliation. Our new voting booths are touch screen – very high tech. Cool!
I was home ten minutes after arriving to vote. That was efficient. I walked Ykraps in the pouring rain before getting comfy. He took care of business despite the rain.
Back home both Ykraps and I shook off the rain drops. I then sat down to dinner with the family. The pork roast was delicious. We had Brussels sprouts and au gratin potatoes with it. I called Ashley back just after dinner to let her know that Mindy would bring the dryer vent kit by Kelly’s tomorrow and at the same time drop off Landon’s birthday presents. After dinner Mindy drove off to fetch Bella from dance. I updated my blog. I still haven’t posted pictures from vacation, but I’ll get to it.
We watched a little Idol after Mindy returned and then watched Family Guy on TBS. Mindy headed to bed just after 9:30pm. I stayed up thinking that I’d catch more Family Guy or South Park. I caught a little of both before falling asleep on the couch. I woke around 10:05pm and headed off to bed.
