I woke a few times after 6:00am feeling unusually rough. I was still very tired yet couldn’t sleep – a classic hangover symptom. I remained in bed in & out of sleep cycles for another couple of hours. I had a mild headache, too, so I got up and took two more Advil around 7am. At 8:15am I got up for good fearing that I might sleep the entire morning away. I also figured that once I was up I’d start feeling much better.
The downstairs was quite chilly. I went about making coffee and even began my exercise routine. After sit-ups, though, I felt uncomfortably ill. Instead of finishing my exercises and walking Ykraps, I allowed myself to lay on the floor by the sofa. I laid there for about 15 minutes before getting up to go walk Ykraps who was pacing and whimpering around the house. The cold air felt incredibly good. However, once we were back the urge for sofa surfing returned. There, I cozied up to a pillow and a blanket and dosed lightly for another 30-45 minutes, or until Mindy finally got up. It was about 10am when I finally found my way to my feet and some coffee. I knew that I had to get my run in, but I wasn’t veryr motivated at all. I won’t try to kid ya! After some coffee and a leftover crescent roll I felt good enough to get moving. I dressed for a run and soon headed out the door. I knew once again that the cold air would do nothing but good things for my less than sunny disposition. I also took a Tagament for my upset tummy.
Turns out, the run was just what I needed. I felt great during and then immediately after. However, I know all too well that it’s the 30 minutes or so after when it typically strikes again. Sure, I felt a slight bit uneasy but all in all remained feeling pretty decent from there out. Thankfully!
It was already after 11am. My goals for the day included painting as much of the kitchen as possible. However, when asked by Mindy, I told that I’d be happy with finishing the dinette area. Having painted this area once before I knew how tedious it would be – all the trimming and detail, and very little rolling.
Mindy helped off load the plants collected around the bay window area to make painting in that area much easier. She commented more than once about my crabby demeanor. And the truth of it is, she was right. She figured it a far better idea for me to paint and for her to shop. How convenient! J Actually, that sounded good to me too. I like having the house to myself, especially when doing project work of this magnitude. You pretty much have to turn the kitchen upside down to paint it efficiently.
While Mindy showered and primped, I masked the wood work and gathered my materials. I decided to fill the CD player full of comfort music to help ease the tedious nature of painting. I loaded it with 2 Todd CD’s ( Todd and Wizard A True Star), David Gilmour, and then Ronan Hardin. I haven’t listened to any of my Todd music for ages.
Like always, once I got going I quickly found my groove. I was digging the Todd music, too! For the first time, however, I noticed how aged some of it was. But after all, it is 34 years old! I was trimming my ass off for the next 2+ hours. Mindy was long gone. I ended up trimming well beyond the dinette area but not quite the entire kitchen. Next, I rolled the bay window area and its opposite wall. That went really fast. Mindy got home about then. My guess is that it was 3:00pm-ish. We made a deal, if she helped me cleared the counter tops, I would finish the entire kitchen.
First, I went ahead and trimmed the remaining areas. That included pulling out the fridge and stove. While back there I cleaned the tile underneath, which always collects major grunge! After another hour or so I was ready to rollout the walls. But even that’s tedious
Work in the kitchen - lots of cabinets, wall outlets, and doors to work around.
I’ve got to tell you. The color choice looks awesome. It’s a very warm tan. I was very pleased as I wrapped up coat one. I could see thin spots surfacing as it dried, but I expected that and didn’t plan on addressing them until tomorrow. Mindy asked a couple times about dinner plans. At the time I didn’t feel like going anywhere. I was tired and very grungy. Mindy walked Ykraps while I cleaned up the immediate mess. I appreciated that. It was approaching 7pm. I took a quick shower emerging feeling somewhat refreshed and energized. I could tell that Mindy really wanted to go for dinner, so I offered up CBC (Columbus Brewing Company). Mindy chuckled and said that she was going to mention that, too. It was in stone then. We wasted little time getting out the door.
We arrived at CBC, my guess is just after 7:30pm. We sat at the bar. I had not interest in getting a table. Mindy ordered wine. I ordered a CBC IPA (go figure). Like Barley’s, you can order from the dinner menu while seated at the bar. But I wasn’t interested in a full, multi-course dinner. Instead, I wanted appetizers. We ordered their unique sweet & sour calamari, some crab bisque, and wings. Mindy sampled both their seasonal Java Porter and regular Porter. She decided on a pint of Java Porter. I had another IPA. J While enjoying our food and drink we met a another couple, Dennis and Mary Ann, who both sold their homes and moved to a new short-north condo. We later learned that Mary Ann lived in Scioto Wood prior to selling. They were a bit older than us and very eclectic. They told us that they walked to CBC from their condo – do it often, in fact. We enjoyed their company for the duration of the evening. Not wanting to make it a late night, we headed for home just before 10pm. I thought about getting a to-go jug of their IPA but didn’t.
Once home, we stayed up for a short time all the while I sipped yet another beer. We headed up to bed around 10:30pm. I really felt as though I’d go right out. But to my dismay, once my head hit the pillow I couldn’t sleep. My mind was racing as if I had just drank some caffeine. But my body was plenty tired, believe me. I just couldn’t drift off to sleep. Mindy, on the other hand, was out! After tossing and turning on the new bed pillows Mindy bought, I got up and headed back downstairs around 11:30pm. I spent about an hour on the PC before moving into the family room and some TV just for its medicinal powers. I watched some DVD’d episode of South Park. Next thing I knew I woke up at 1:30am. But I woke feeling wired again. I moseyed on up to bed anyhow where I once again tossed and turned until I eventually fell unsoundly asleep.
