I was up on time and went about my calisthenics as usual. But for one reason or another, I was moving rather slow. It was already after 6am by the time Ykraps and I returned from our morning walk. There was quite a bit of thin patchy ice and the streets, and it was only 20 some degrees. Burr - the cold air has returned! The driveway had a light coating of snow on top of ice, too.
I sipped coffee, read the headlines, and meditated like any other morning. I delivered Mindy’s coffee then readied for my run. I ran cautiously, as there were tricky icy spots everywhere. But because it was dark the street lights did an ample job of alerting me to the ice just ahead. Also, as mentioned in the past, I tend to run with a little wider stance in such conditions. My run was soon history.
Mindy asked me to cook our eggs. I did. Meanwhile, she went about finishing her own preparations. She & Bella soon departed. Jacob and I left for the bus stop at our usual 7:55am. He rode with me. He asked that I help him bundle up once standing at the bus stop. Not only was it cold (somewhere near 22 degrees) but there was a brisk breeze blowing in from the northwest, too. No Pat & Alanna. The regular bus was back in service again today.
I arrived at work by 8:40am. I was late because I sat on the Davidson Rd overpass for ten solid minutes waiting for the Norwich Fire Dept. to clear a rear end collision just ahead of me. The back roads were very icy.
It was a Monday like most. Lots of weekend carry over and such. The morning moved by swiftly. Before I knew it, it was early afternoon, and still only 28 degrees. I left for another Home Depot/Lowes visit. I needed to look again for nylon push rivets for our broken deck chair strap. The two I bought last week were a tad too large. However, the repair process that I gleaned from Google seemed to work, which entailed placing the existing strap in boiling water resulting in it becoming malleable enough to stretch across and wrap twice around the chair rails.
I found some that appeared slightly smaller but wasn’t sure. I forgot to bring the two others from home. Also, I didn’t have any cash, and they were only $.60. I didn’t want to use a credit card. I left thinking that I could come back tomorrow.
The afternoon went by peacefully. I left for home around 5:25pm. Mindy let me know that we’d be having leftovers. I had the option of meatloaf or pork roast. I chose meatloaf. The kids both had cereal, neither being interested in what we were having.
Dinner clean-up went quickly. Afterwards I really wanted to do some paint masking but instead took the time to play PS2 NFL with Jacob. I was the New Orleans Saints. He was the Cowboys. He seemed much more passive than I anticipated he’d be. He’s generally very competitive. I was ahead 7-6 at halftime, yet he wanted to stop. Hmmm?
I went on with my evening. Mindy got the kids settled for bed with little trouble. Mindy determined that Jacob was feeling ill with a high fever. She made arrangements to miss school the following day to take Jacob to the doctor. We watched a little South Park before the two of us headed to bed somewhere near 9:45pm.
