A Laborious Day
Albeit a holiday, I greeted the day at 5:39am and proceeded like any other Monday. That’s right, I was heading into work. I went through my usual morning routine up to and including going on a run. It was a beautiful morning and promised to be like this all day long. The neighborhood was quiet and so were the streets when I finally left for the office. It seems most people were still in bed this Labor Day morning
I dressed casually – shorts, ballcap, and flip-flops. I drove the BM’er in, too. Work was very relaxed. I anticipated it being much busier than it was. But that was a good thing. Come lunch time I bought the crew pizza from Donatos. They were the only shop we could find open.
I worked straight through until 4pm and thought that I was headed directly home. Mindy, however, asked that I pick-up her prescription at the Roberts Rd. CVS. I did. I was still home by 4:30pm. I had lots on my agenda. I intended to spend a little while investigating the leaking hot tub, which lost half its water in just over four hours while we were at the Jump’s on Sunday. Too, I wanted to visit a neighbor a few houses down the street to get their roof shingle make/model/color. I really like the look. I also wanted to see how easy Mindy’s side view mirror comes off of her Quest minivan.
The first thing I did was add enough water to the hot tub to safely turn it on and then removed the front panel along with some deck skirting. Initially, I couldn’t see where it was leaking anywhere. Hmmm?
I decided to let it run for a while and figured that I would check back later. Before doing anything else, we sat down and ate our dinner as a family. Mindy made stuffed peppers. The peppers were from our garden, and they were very good.
After dinner I headed out to address those chores which I mentioned earlier. I completed them all. Afterwards I watered the flowers and got the sprinkler pump going. It was hot & sunny all day long and the forecast calls for plenty more of the same through next week. I had to get some water on my newly planted grass seed. I checked the hot tub once again, too. Still no leak.
I finished up outside around 8pm and made my way back inside. Mindy had me tuck the kids into bed. Afterwards, I tuned into the College Monday Night Football game on ESPN. Periodically I returned to the yard to move the sprinkler and check on the hot tub. All was good. Mindy headed up to bed shortly after 9pm. I stayed up and enjoyed the game, played guitar, and sipped a Jack & Coke. I buttoned up the house and headed to bed at 10:10pm.
