Anticipating Fun

Right on schedule, I was up at 7:30am ready to begin the first of five consecutive days off of work. I slept rather well but woke with clogged sinuses and a raw, scratchy throat. Both cleared after I got up and moving.
Mindy chose to remain in bed. For her, this was a chance to catch up on sleep since the kids were away and we had no pressing deadlines.

I prepped a pot of coffee, finished my exercises, and leashed up Ykraps for our morning walk. It was lovely outside – blue skies and cool summer temps. It was only 60 degrees. As usual, once we returned I poured myself some coffee, checked the headlines via the internet, and then took to the deck for some guitar. Mindy got up around 9am but wasn’t feeling so good. I got ready for a run by 9:30am.

I ran along Trabue Rd. I was surprised at how crowded the golf course was so early in the day. I ran by my dad’s house. He appeared to be home but not out. Upon my return to the house, Mindy was back upstairs in bed. I was careful not to disturb her. I spent the next couple of hours watering flowers and updating my blog. Mindy finally got up and into action just after noon. She reported feeling better but still not 100%.

We had plenty to do this afternoon. We had to prep for our Salt Fork trip. Our goal was to have everything ready to load into the Trooper before going to bed. That meant we had to grocery shop, pick-up and gas up the boat and Trooper, and pack our clothes and food. We decided to grocery shop together, and planned on hitting Wal-Mart and then Giant Eagle.

At Wal-Mart we picked up a potted sunflower just like we did last July 4th weekend. We then proceeded to gather our groceries for the week and for our trip. At Giant Eagle we picked up some produce, large wild shrimp, wine, beer, and a gift for a friend’s birthday party that’s fast approaching. It was after 3pm by the time we were home from shopping.

I left to pick-up the boat and gas up around 4pm. I wasn’t gone but maybe 25 minutes. When I returned I spent several minutes gathering & organizing important items for our trip. Mindy made sure we had plenty of boat food pre-cut & bagged (fruit, veggies, nuts, and cheese). We agreed to start the grill around 6:30pm. We grilled skewered shrimp and filet mignon.

After eating our dinner and cleaning up the mess, we got our suitcases packed for the go. The only remaining tasks were to ice the coolers and load the Trooper. We went to bed rather early with a busy day lying ahead.
