Talent Show

I got out of bed just after 6am after fighting off the urge for more sleep. Sluggishly, I pushed through calisthenics knowing that coffee awaited on the other side. All along the plan was to run early and then work from the main office, but that simply didn't come to fruition. Instead, I took a more leisurely approach to the early morning, enjoying coffee and internet until about 7am. By then I knew for certain that I wouldn't run until after bus stop time and then about the time that Mindy left for school I was fairly certain that I'd simply work from home all day.

As for the weather, it wasn't very nice though still a little warmer than I expected. Early on we hit our daytime high of 65 degrees but with rain, and it was expected to continue through much of the day while the temperatures dropped through the 50s during the afternoon.

Saw Jacob, Mindy and Bella off to school. Waited until almost 830am before heading out for a run. Looking at the radar, it appeared that a thin front of heavy rain would come through in the next 10 minutes. I didn't feel comfortable waiting any longer so I headed out anyway. Sure enough, about a mile into my run the skies let loose dumping heavy rain for about 10 minutes. After that it was only light rain. But by then the damage was already done. I was soaked to the bone. However, with a temperature near 64 degrees, I wasn't really cold. I ran the full 4.1 miles.

Back home ahead of 930am I toweled off then changed out of my sopping wet running clothes and back into my PJs. I then put my wet running shoes on the register vent even though neither the heat or AC was running. I poured another cup of coffee and got back to work. Rained on and off through the rest of the morning and early afternoon. Plain and simple, it simply wasn't a very nice day weatherwise.

Fairly low key work day, which is always good to have. The kids were home from school at their usual times. Bella's 5th grade talent show was slated for that evening. Mindy, Molly and I planned to go while Jimaken took Jacob to soccer. Sounded like we'd be taking Makayla, too, since Chrissy was working late and Kenny was out of town.

The show was to begin at 7pm, but we left the house around 630pm since Bella needed to be there a few minutes early. Molly was supposed to meet us there. I took both my new cameras. I was eager to get some indoor shots with my 70D. We got there earlier than most, so we pretty much had our choice of seats. Molly showed up about 10 minutes after us. Not quite sure what to expect, but Mindy said it would likely be bad, but funny. Bella, by the way, would serve as one of two emcees for the event.

The show was cute and funny, but also a little long. At the risk of sounding a little harsh, I'll just say this. The next American Idol isn't likely going to come from this school. :) It was 815pm by the time the show wrapped up and we were headed for the parking lot. Having net eaten any dinner, all of us were hungry. Predictably, Bella asked if we could stop for food. No. Plenty of food at home.

Not sure what the others had, but I enjoyed half of the chipotle burrito that Mindy brought home for me on Monday. Caught a little TV before bed, but called it an early night. In bed before 10pm.
