Honors

Up at 605am. Another nice hot, sunny day in the offing. As much as I like the summery weather, we could really use an inch or so of rain. Doesn’t look like we stands even a slight a chance until early next week. In the meantime, our irrigation system is getting a work out, but even that isn’t enough for the new sod. In addition to getting hit with the irrigation system, I am watering it manually every day too.

Woke Mindy ahead of 630am. Jacob was soon out the door for school wearing long pants, a shirt and tie. Unless I’m mistaken, this would the first time all school year that he didn’t wear shorts. The shirt and tie were really for the academic awards ceremony later that evening, but it was dress for success day at school, too.

I didn’t leave for a run until 715am. Let Mindy and Bella know that my return before bus time would be iffy. Ran the full 4.1 miles. Warm, but no problems. Made home in time to see Bella off to school. Felt much better about that. Felt great.

Mindy left cheesy scrambled eggs in the microwave. Walked the pug before enjoying them. Hustled through a shower and packing lunch. Left for the office near 845am arriving near 9am. Busy most of the day. Thought I would take lunch around 1pm but got invited to an important meeting for 130pm. Ended up bagging any plans for lunch and worked straight through the day.

Left work near 415pm. Arrived home around 440pm. Mindy brought home Canes chicken – Jacob’s request. The plan was to leave for Jacob’s academic awards ceremony around 615pm. We’d be meeting Jimaken and Molly there. Bella headed down to the neighbors since sibs weren’t welcome.

We left the house near 615pm in the Pilot. The academic awards ceremony was for all students with a 3.75 GPA or higher. Jacob’s was 3.9 something. The event was held in the HS auditorium. Expecting near a full house. We found 4 open seats together near the top. Filled up fast. Mindy shared that the event was slated to last 2 hours. Ugh!

The had an awful lot of 7th & 8th grade students to recognize, and there were four groups: 7th graders with 3.75 GPA or higher, same for 8th grade, then 7th grade 4.0 GPA, and lastly, 8th grade 4.0 GPA. Several of the 8th graders held a 4.0 GPA for two years in a row. The awards piece lasted only about 45-50 minutes. Without prior knowledge, we had no idea what they planned for the rest of the time.

The next phase was an 18 minute video made by 4.0 8th graders. After that it was a comedy/variety show put on by the teaching staff. Funny, entertaining. We enjoyed it. We wrapped up around 9pm and then after a couple photos we headed for home. I was really hungry. Enjoyed what remained of my Chipotle from Tuesday.

Before heading to bed, I set up my laptop for work from home Friday. In bed by 10pm.
