I started coffee then went to my desk and PC. Fairly warm – low 30s and expecting a high near 50 later than afternoon. Wasn’t expected to last, though. Instead, a winter storm watch was in effect for late Saturday night through Monday AM. Calling for as much as a foot of snow and then subzero temps as soon as Monday. We talked about skiing on Saturday or Sunday, but we also planned on attending Jacob’s basketball game at 2pm, I doubted we would make it up that day. If we went at all, it would more than likely be Sunday.
Enjoyed coffee and internet for a good couple hours before a stretch and run. During that time I uploaded all of my Utah ski photos to my Google+ collection and then sent an email to a select few inviting them to take a gander. I also spent time registering both new cameras and then downloaded the PDF user manual for my 70D. Come 10am Mindy still wasn’t up, but since I was already heading upstairs to fetch my running clothes, I decided to take her some coffee, too. Headed off on my run near 1015am. It had to be close to 40 degrees. It was an easy 3mile run.
As soon as I was back at home, I leashed up the pug for a walk. She made quick work of our walk. Back inside, I was soon out again through the garage. It was March 1 and our Xmas wreath was still hanging from the apex of the garage. I quickly took it down along with the giant icicle lights hanging just above the front stoop. Took no more than 10 minutes.
Mindy got on a cleaning kick midmorning. Her priority was dusting the downstairs. She asked what I was going to clean. We really need to find a new house cleaner.
Already nearing 1130am, I spent the next hour or so unpacking and preparing my 70D for action. Thought I might take it to Jacob’s basketball game, but still needed to charge the battery. After reading the manual, it look like I’d be taking it after all, Battery needs to charge for 2.5 hours. Oh well! Mindy was showered and ready by 115pm. I headed up for a shower around 120pm. It was 145pm by the time we left the house. Mindy seemed a little stressed, worried that we might get there late.
The game was at Weaver instead of Heritage like all of his other games. Weaver happens to be Jacob’s middle school. Mindy gave me a little crap for the way in which I was planning to get there. To be fair, I was thinking Heritage, but could get their easily going that way, too. All the middle schools are within a couple miles of one another. Bella phoned just as we pulled in the lot sharing that the game was about to start. Wanted to know where we were.
Jokingly, I told Mindy that she needed to eat her words, because the game still hadn’t started as we found seats in the bleachers. See dear! Jacob’s team started hot, making a handful of three-pointers and building a 10-12 point lead. Jacob alone scored 9 points, had several rebounds, and a few assists. My dad showed up into the 2nd quarter. Didn’t even know he was coming. They won by 20 or so points, ending the season undefeated.
On our way to the game, Mindy talked about stopping at Sam’s Club on the way home to pick-up some steaks, but once were actually on our way home she changed her mind. I didn’t mind. Wasn’t hungry anyway. I haven’t had much of an appetite most of the week while battling these minor cold symptoms.
We were back at home by 315pm. I fussed with my Canon 70D, trying to get it fired up for the first time. After charging more than an hour, the battery was still dead. At first I thought it might be a faulty battery but after 20 more minutes of charging I decided to try it even though I could see from the led indicator that it wasn’t fully charged. This time it had enough power to turn on the camera. I put the battery back in the charger and left it alone for another hour or so. Thinking maybe I didn’t have it fully engaged in the wall charger.
Even after almost 12 hours of sleep the night before, Mindy took a nap from the sofa. Don’t think she slept that long, though. While she napped, I did some reading and played on my PC. We discussed our evening plans around 430-5pm. Opted to simply stay home. Mindy reheated what remained of her chicken and noodle casserole near 6pm. Around 7pm, I was starting to get a little hungry so after riffling through the pantry I decided to make a homemade pizza.
Used a Martha While pizza crust mix, shredded cheese, fresh oregano, Contadina pizza sauce, pepperoni and hot pepper rings. Turned out pretty darn good. I had three slices. Mindy had two. Throughout the creative process, I was sipping Jack & Cokes. Before the night was over, I’d had three of them. We were both in bed by like 940pm. I joked that she couldn’t tell anyone that I was in bed on a Saturday night that early. Went to bed expecting a huge snow storm to strike overnight. Calling for as much as a foot of snow and colder temps by Monday AM. Kind of exciting, really.
