I slept in on Friday until almost 550am. The coffee was ready having completed its brewing cycle about the same time that I was rolling out of bed. While glancing out back I saw about 20 Canada geese congregating in the yard and then the waning crescent in the clear eastern sky. Before whipping out my sit-ups and push-ups I choked down a 500mg Naproxen. With my calisthenics behind me, I headed to the PC with a cup of coffee in hand. I read that the heat won game #2 of the NBA finals but blew a sizable lead with just a couple minutes to go. The Reds won too. Yippie!
I played around online until nearly 620m when I headed to the family room for meditation and stretching. Meditation went really well after a renewed focus on getting the most from the exercise. Stretching went well too. Felt terrific. By the time all of that was behind me it was after 650am. It was a comfortable morning for a run only about 60 degrees under clear skies when I got out around 7am. Call me lazy, but I decided to trim my run to just three miles to make sure I was back near 730am. The abbreviated run went well.
Back at the house around 730am I started my breakfast and threw together a lunch. I fried three eggs setting one of them aside for the pug. I finished my breakfast before going up for Eiknarf and then taking her out for her morning walk. We walked for no more than five minutes, Eiknarf seemingly eager to get back to enjoy her eggs.
It was close to 750am when I finally headed up for a shower. It took all of about 20 minutes to shower and ready. I was back downstairs by 815am where Mindy and I enjoyed some coffee and sunshine from the deck. I planned to drive the BM’er so to that end I moved the Accord to the curb near 830am. I didn’t leave for work until almost 845am.
It was a lovely morning for a drive in a convertible. Felt great pulling away in the BM’er. Arrived at the office near 9am. Not too many people in the office. Only myself and one other on our wing of the 6th floor. I guess I could’ve worked from home but I wouldn’t have been able to focus as acutely as I can at the office.
I had a number of tasks on my to-do list including a call to learn how to do the reporting for one of my newest customers. Spent most of the morning dealing with that, but also addressed a couple escalations. Left for lunch around 1230pm and headed to the Mill Run Home Depot. I picked up two types of caulk to help complete the exterior trim board replacement project as well as a small tub of spackling and some new work gloves that were on sale 3 pair for $9.99?
Back at the office near 120pm. I thought I might be able to wrap-up my work at the office and spend the rest of the afternoon working from home. That didn’t happen. I just had too much to do and it didn’t make sense to pack up and start over at home. Mindy and the kids, by the way, were off to Lake Chawktaw to boat/ski with a friend. She called me around 4pm to let me know that they were just then getting out on the lake. They had to borrow a friends boat since theirs was still in the shop.
I worked hard to wrap up everything I needed to get completed by 430pm so I could get out of the office a little early. I did fairly well leaving the office for home near 440pm. I got home around 5pm. I briefly considered cutting the lawn but I just didn’t have the energy or motivation to do it. By then it was hot and sunny, somewhere near 87 degrees. I asked Mindy to water all the flowers before I left for work and she agreed to do it. However, they were looking more than thirsty. After spending about an hour reading, relaxing and napping I headed out to water the flowers.
I’m thinking it was near 730pm when Mindy and the kids got home from boating. I was out back watering flowers. Bella was very excited to share that she learned to water ski. Mindy soon came out to share the same news. She followed me around the yard eventually picking up on the fact that I was a tad irritated that she hadn’t cared for the flowers before they left the house.
Mindy brought home a Minelli’s pizza. After finishing the watering I enjoyed some of that. We were expecting the grandsons around 830pm. They’d be spending the night. Before they arrived I headed out back to toss the football with Jacob. Taking scheduled Naproxen for two days now I can tell a huge difference with the swelling and pain in my ‘trigger finger’. Not perfect but far better. I am hopeful that after a week of this it might go completely away. I have the cortisone pills as back-up.
They boys showed up around 830pm as expected. They ran out back to play right away. Lindsey shared that she thinks her apartment is haunted. Said she woke the other morning with the bed shaking violently. She said she was so horrified that she ran out of the apartment crying and calling her mom. Cool! I asked why she was scared and why she didn’t just roll with it. What’s the worst that could happen? She seemed confused. Both Mindy and I surmised that she was dreaming. She soon headed for home.
As darkness set in we got a fire going in the fire ring, once again planning to make smores for all the kids. Pat Shultz must’ve seen the fire and stopped over for a visit after getting from dinner at Barley’s. He texted Mindy earlier asking why we weren’t there. We hung out around the fire until about 11pm. Even at that late hour, Mindy insisted that all the kids get baths/showers since all the boys were filthy from frog hunting. Jacob inflated the air mattress in his room for the boys. Mindy just cleaned the guest room and didn’t want to have to launder the sheets again before our guests arrive next Thursday. Everybody was in bed by 1130pm.
