Schnoz Recorder

Up at 520a after 9+ hours of good sleep. However, despite all this good sleep, I was still tired/groggy. I was sure it related to my cold, which I assumed was on its way out. I’m worried now though that I might be getting a real sinus infection. In any case, I moved forward as usual. I gazed briefly outback and then went for my exercise shoes. Within the next 20 minutes I completed sit-ups, push-ups, and internet time. At 545a I leashed up Frankie and took her outside. She seemed more interested in chasing unique scents than she did going potty. This, however, I’ve come to expect more and more as she matures and gains better control over her body functions. If memory serves, it was about 20 degrees. Back in the house, I treated Frankie then made myself a cup of coffee. I look good as a cup of coffee. I then returned to the PC where I read the Daily OM and then a few headlines. At 605a I gave it up for meditation and stretching. Once again, I felt like I wasted too much time online. I really need to reel that in. I was still tired. Gap meditation was about as good as it’s been in a couple of weeks. Stretching was good too, but I can’t think of time when it isn’t. I finished both by 625a and promptly delivered coffee and the pug to Mindy, who was already mid-shower. I hurried back downstairs to dress and run. I felt good out the door and through the duration of the 4.1 mile run. Time passed quickly. Back at the house, I thought this the day that I would pull the power to our holiday lights but then chose not to last second. Maybe a couple more days. Why not? They’ll be up on the house for a while, or until the next weekend day that’s dry and warm when I can safely get up on the roof. Mindy’s keys were waiting in their usual spot. I started the Honda like a good lap dog. Mindy had cheesy scrambled eggs waiting in the frying pan. Bella and Jacob both were having cereal. Mindy reminded us that she had a union meeting after school and wouldn’t be home until almost 8p. My dad agreed to intercept the kids from the bus, although Jimaken was still planning to pick them up, but only after a late meeting he had scheduled at ITT, his part-time teaching place. Had I known ahead of time, I would’ve arranged to leave early to get the kids, but hey, no biggie. I finished my entire plate of eggs after learning that Mindy reserved some in the pan just for Frankie. She, meanwhile, was going berserk, waiting for some eggs. She sure loves her eggs! Mindy left for school and I headed up for a shower. Mindy followed right on my heels leading Frankie into the master bedroom then heading off to her own room. I was showered, dressed, and downstairs preparing my lunch by 750a. Packed cheese, banana, nuts, fruit medley, but no salad. Giving myself a veggie break. The children and I headed out the door at 757a. Kenny shared that he was leaving for Florida around 10a. Not sure when he’s coming back home. He did say that his golf clubs were going along, too. Lucky him! Before heading back inside, I walked Frankie out front. Good thing I did. too. She pooped again. Good girl! In the house I made all the usual last minute preparations while the Trooper warmed. I left for the office at 820a. I parked out front arriving just after 830a. All morning long I evacuated large quantities of snot from my sinuses. Just kept coming. Thick and yellow. As I understand it, that's a good sign. I decided that I was gonna take my lunch today for the first time all week and visit both Home Depot and Target. Getting out of the office is always a good thing. At Home Depot I picked up 6 furnace filters, some bigger screws to repair the beater bar in our dryer that always comes loose, a 2011 bill storage tub, a surge arrestor for Jacob’s new TV, and some hand warmers for Mindy. At Target I simply bought some more eye drops. Why do I love Target? The open lines were long, but an alert worker saw me waiting patiently with one small item and called me over to a previously unopened register to get me out of there quick. Now that’s service! I headed back to the office happy.  The afternoon moved along quickly. I talked with Mindy briefly around 3p. I left for home a few minutes early. Despite it being about 33 degrees, it had been snowing all afternoon. There was maybe about a half inch of new snow as I left. I had to scrape my windows clear. The temperature was dropping fast and the new snow was light and fluffy. The older stuff, however, was frozen. Although never at a complete stop, the drive home was incredibly slow. And things really slowed down on Wilson Rd, which was a sheet of ice. Very deceptive. It looked just wet. Our street was a white sheet of ice. I worried a little about parking on the street. Inside, the kids and my dad seemed to be having a good time. Bella shared that she took Frankie out earlier. Jacob was eager to demonstrate how he could play his brand new recorder with his nose. Excellent, Jacob! He was driving all of us nuts playing it while we talked. After taking care of my daily chores, and then my dad stating that he was heading home, I declared that I was heading out to shovel snow. Jacob asked if he could help. Of course! Jacob and I headed out to shovel snow while my dad prepared to leave. I helped clear my dad’s windows just before he pulled away. Jacob and I ended up shoveling three drive ways; ours, Chrissy’s, and Trena’s. We did the connecting walks too. I put down some salt on our drive to combat the remaining slickness. Jimaken arrived to fetch the kids just as we were putting the finishing touches on the walks and drive. Jim drove through the same traffic that I did, and knew how bad it was. Because of the foul weather, said he was simply gonna take the kids to McDonald’s then bring ‘em back home. I understood. They were gone for about an hour. During that time I snacked on some beef summer sausage and extra sharp cheese and then wrote for my blog. I spent some time looking for Mt Bachelor lodging options too. Need to get that booked before too long. Kids were back by 745p. Jacob tried telling me he didn’t need a shower, citing the fact that he had gym on Friday. The kid hates to bathe. Bella was agreeable to a shower. At the same time that dialogue was going on Mindy phoned. I asked Mindy how she felt about Jacob refusing to shower. She insisted he take one. He joked that he still wouldn’t. He headed that way. Both kids were showered by the time that Mindy got home. I helped Bella with a homework assignments requiring her to cut out shapes of triangles, quadrangles, as well as other polygons. Near 845p I got into my PJs then popped some popcorn. Bella and I shared it while she did her nightly reading. After popcorn, I must’ve fallen asleep. I don’t recall tucking in the kids. I woke on the sofa around 10p and headed for bed.
