Just the Basic Facts
After just 4 short hours of sleep, I leaped out of bed at 530a. At the time, I felt pretty good. Brushed my teeth and gathered my running clothes then headed downstairs. The coffee maker kicked on just as I made my way into the kitchen.
I glanced out back while slipping into my exercise tennies then turned my attention to morning calisthenics. After sit-ups I spent about 5 minutes online before completing 55 push-ups. My exercise routine caused my sinuses to drain.
I headed back to the PC with a cup of coffee where I spent time reading headlines covering the Buckeyes big Sugar bowl win. Headed out with Frankie at 555a. It was very cold, only 13 degrees. It took a while but she finally relieved herself. I was more than ready to get back inside, although I was bundled warmly.
Meditation and stretching were next. Both went OK. I took coffee and the pug to Mindy at 623a, this marking her first day back on the horse. I headed out for my run at 629a. It took about a half mile to warm up. I ran the full 4.1 miles and felt good doing it.
Right on queue, Mindy left her keys just inside the front door for me to grab and start her car upon my return. Put the defroster on full tilt. Mindy had eggs ready and waiting. Jacob was just finishing his cereal and on his way up to his room. I asked if he knew who won the game. Yes, he knew. Asked his mom who won as soon as he got up.
The eggs & fruit were good. Mindy left for school while I was mid-breakfast. Before leaving, she put what looked like ribs in the Crock-Pot. I assumed that our dinner. Still a little early, I went ahead and unloaded the dishwasher ahead of a shower. I chatted with Bella while doing so.
A shower felt great. The steaming hot water splashing against my sinuses helped loosen more gunk. I was ready and downstairs by 750a. I used the few minutes ahead of bus time to prepare a light lunch of fruit, cheese, and a lettuce-based salad. I didn’t need to remind the kids that it was cold and to bundle. Apparently Mindy already did. By the way, Jacob’s also stricken with the family cold.
Kenny & I chatted about the Buckeye victory. Kenny admitted sleeping through the 2nd half of the final quarter. I told him he missed the game. But he had it DVR’d and planned to watch it that morning. I gave him an overview. He already knew the outcome. What he didn’t know was how we pulled it off.
I walked Frankie out front but all she did was a lot of sniffing. Unable to wait any longer, we headed back inside all the while the Trooper warmed out front. I left for work at 820a with a to-go cup of coffee.
Parked out front. Logged into my PC around 840a. Filled my water pitcher with ice and water then stowed my refrigerable lunch items. Kind of a quiet morning. We had a planning meeting that carried us through mid-morning. I returned to my office around 1130a where I remained for the better part of the day.
I took a call from Mindy a little after 5p. Didn’t talk long. Needed to wrap up my day. I left for home at 535p. Tried launching navigation software via my Droid X. Couldn’t get it to work even after getting a few tips from one of my engineers. Rats!
Arrived home before 6p. House smelt good. Having barbequed ribs, sauerkraut, and tater tots for dinner. I rinsed my lunch containers but didn’t bother taking care of coffee since dinner was ready to go. I was really hungry too.
Mindy placed half the crock-pot cooked ribs in the oven to crunch ‘em up a bit. I chose some of those first. They were delicious. I had a second helping, only this time directly from the crock-pot. Very good! Jacob was still not feeling well and didn’t finish his. Bella didn’t finish either, though she rarely does. We practiced her spelling words during and after dinner.
Bella read to me while I did kitchen clean-up duty. After dinner clean-up I retired to the family room to read and relax. I wasn’t awake long. Might’ve read 5 pages before dosing off. But unlike most after dinner naps, I was for all intents and purposes out for the night. I woke about an hour later and headed straight to bed. It was close to 845p.
