Snow Cold & Wind

I was up just ahead of 530a and without hesitation I rolled out of bed and headed to the master bath where I tended to my teeth then fumbled with my running clothes while trying to be as quiet as possible. I was downstairs by 535a slipping into my exercise tennies. It looked cold and windy outside. About an inch of snow on the ground, too. I completed my exercises then went for coffee. It was only 18 degrees with 10 mph breeze from the west. Definitely winter! I even checked school closings for the first time. There were several but none impacting us. At the time, the snow was coming down in squalls. I freed Frankie after enjoying some PC time and coffee. She and I headed out around 555a. She was slow to take care of business and only peed. The time slipping away, I had to give up and head back inside. She was just sitting in the cold and snow. I think the snow messes with her sense of smell. After a treat, I did ten minutes of meditation. I won’t say that it was a waste of time, but quieting my mind was more than a challenge. While preparing to stretch, I noticed a pile of dog crap on the family room floor. Dammit Frankie! I had to deal with that before my stretch. Stretching went well. Time was starting to slip away from me. It was already 630a. I hurried through prepping and delivering Mindy’s coffee and the pug. I had to psyche myself out for running in what would almost certainly feel like the coldest weather yet this season. Once again, I wore my sawed off sweat pants under my wicking running pants to help keep the twins warm. I wore my polyester toboggan, too. I was determined to be warm. As for my upper body, I wore my mid-weight winter wicking shirt and a pullover fleece, that’s it. I was comfortable throughout the 4.1 mile run. Mindy’s now trained to leave her keys by the front door so I can quickly grab ‘em and start the Honda prior to removing my running attire. But today, in addition to starting it, I wanted to scrape the windows, too but couldn’t find her scraper. She said it was buried under some storage flap. I ended up using my glove. It was cold. Burr! Inside, Mindy had eggs ready and waiting. Jacob teased Bella about the blowing snow, referencing the dreaded snow tornado. She didn’t bite. Bella was eating leftover bacon and maple syrup. Mindy offered me leftover bacon as well, but I wanted only the healthy stuff, eggs and fruit. Mindy left around 730a. Don’t recall her advising the kids to go to Dena’s but I’m guessing she did and I simply missed it. I headed for a shower around 734a. I was back in the kitchen at 750a where I spent another five minutes cleaning up breakfast and preparing my light lunch (cut cheese, banana, nuts, and fruit medley). I called for the kids at 754a. They were down and ready by 757a. I reminded them to bundle warmly, this the coldest school day yet. Bella heeded the sound advice. Jacob, not so much. Kenny was out with his girls and Woody. He shared that this was Woody’s final morning with all of his boy parts. Going in to be neutered at 9a. Poor little guy! Once the kids were on the bus we chatted only briefly. Frankie took another dump out front before heading in. Good girl! Inside, I cleaned up the breakfast mess a bit further then turned my attention to packing up my laptop before heading off to work. I had the Trooper warming the entire time. I left for the office at 820a. The roads were fine, and for the time being the snow completely stopped. I parked out front. I was in my office by 835a and online a couple minutes later. I went to park my food and fill my water pitcher. The morning was busy, but nothing different than I expected. I stayed busy all morning long, and ended up skipping a formal lunch break. I ate my banana and nuts around 10-11a and then the cheese and fruit medley around 1p. I was content. Meanwhile, my boss was working from home after learning he has walking pneumonia. We chatted a few times during the course of the business day. I also called and talked to my mom inquiring of aunt Linda’s status. Said they’re moving her to Regency Manor nursing home Tuesday. Wanted to know if it was nice. Not in my book! I called Mindy around 430p after missing her call earlier. She was just arriving home with the kids and couldn’t talk long. Told her I’d see her near 6p. She also reminded me that Jacob was going to the Blue Jackets game with his daddy. I left the office for home around 530p. I was exhausted after 9 straight hours of work. Of course, it was fully dark when I left and bitter cold too. I headed straight home. Inside, the house was particularly quiet. Forgot that Jacob wasn’t there. Right away, Mindy asked which leftovers I wanted. Oh, no dinner? Darn. I was pretty hungry after eating only cheese and fruit for lunch. I didn’t want leftovers. Wasn’t in the mood. I quickly went about my usual chores of prepping the next day’s coffee and rinsing my lunch containers. At some point I asked if Frankie had been out. She had, but also learned that she crapped on the carpet again. I wasn’t pleased. I blamed Bella poor dog walking technique, but it probably had as much to do with the snow covered ground than anything else. However, both kids are too quick to bring her back inside when they’re done, not her. Mindy and Bella ate leftovers while I snacked on a few pita chips, cheese and hummus at my computer. I needed some decompress time. After playing on my computer for a while, I went in to the kitchen to be more social. While there, I sorted through mail, mostly junk. Bella & I ended up snacking on some hot wings Mindy bought at the grocery Saturday. The wings made me sleepy. I went to living room intending to nap from the recliner, something I haven’t done in a long while. It didn’t take long for me to go out. Not sure how long I slept but know it wasn’t too long. Frankie woke me crying and pawing at my legs wanting to jump aboard with a rawhide in her mouth. Very cute. Realizing she wasn’t going away anytime soon, I pulled her up. We rested there another 5-10 minutes, but I didn’t fall back asleep. Honestly, the incessant chewing sound was driving me bonkers. I put her back down only to get more of the crying, begging. I decided to get up. It was 830p and time for MNF. Mindy, Bella, and I gathered on the sofa. This was supposed to be a big game, Patriots vs. Jets. Jacob got home just before 9p. Said they left the hockey game in the 2nd period with the score tied 1-1. We tucked the kids into bed around 915p. Jacob asked if he could rejoin me for football. I refused. He needed to get some sleep. Mindy watched football until 930p at the latest. It was something like 17-0 Patriots when she went to bed. Growing bored with the football, I searched for the Blue Jackets game. They were in a sudden death shoot out. I saw maybe two minutes of hockey. Somehow the Blue Jackets won it. I knew Jacob would be thrilled. After hockey, I tuned to Family Guy. I watched part of two episodes or until I woke on the sofa at 1030p. I secured the house, put Frankie to bed, and headed up to bed.
