A New Toy Good to 33ft

It was Tuesday morning, and I woke feeling tremendously better than the day before. In fact, I felt terrific, especially considering I was steeped in cold symptoms just one day earlier. The Theraflu & bourbon, along with my stellar immune system, must’ve done the trick.

I began my exercise regiment in earnest and was out the door with Ykraps well ahead of schedule. I noted first, the difference in today’s traction conditions. Yesterday morning the streets were a sheet of ice while the walks were just snow covered. Today was the opposite. The walks were icy and the streets were for the most part dry. This, of course, was most applicable to my pending run.

I carried on with my indoor activities after the walk. I let Mindy know just how cold it was and how much better I felt when I delivered her morning coffee. She was up extra early in preparation for her early staff meeting. When I heard her stir I stepped on the gas a bit myself. Prior to that I had forgotten about her early departure. To help, I left for my run at 6:15am.

It felt good to get an early jump on my run. I was back well before 7am – Mindy’s self-imposed departure time. She left as I continued on with my morning prep. I casually went about making an omelet and then spent considerable time on the PC since I was about 20 minutes ahead of schedule.

I walked Jacob to the bus stop at our usual time. The bus was on time and I was on my way to work by 8:10am. The work day was pretty much a blur. It went incredibly fast. I took another Theraflu just to help curb any possible return of cold symptoms. But as I stated earlier, I felt pretty darn good. Many commented on my rough, raspy voice, but that was a poor indicator of how I felt. Sounded worse – felt better.

I took lunch around 1pm. I ran a handful of errands. First, I stopped at the ATM to get some vacation cash. Next, I picked up two books at Barnes & Noble – The Third Jesus, by Deepak Chopra, and A New Earth, by Eckhart Tolle. I’ve been awaiting the release of Deepak’s new one for over 6 weeks. Today was release day. I bought the CD version figuring it will make a great listen during my trip. And finally, on my way back to the office I stopped at Saturday’s for a hair cut, at Jack’s for some crickets and meal worms, and Home Depot for extra house keys. That was a whole lot of stuff crammed into just over an hour.

I was back at the office by 2:10pm. I felt good for what I had accomplished and not pushing it out to the last day. The rest of the work day went quickly. I worked late – until 5:50pm. Bella was at dance so the house would be somewhat tame. Jacob was upstairs playing PS 2 when I arrived home. Mindy went for Chipotles burritos. I had one waiting my arrival home. It was good!

Mindy had a familiar gift bag setting on the island. She said she wanted me to have my anniversary gift before our trip. She seemed excited for me to open it. After some minor clean-up I opened my card and gift. Although I had a sneaking suspicion, I acted totally surprised. I got a new digital camera. More specifically, she got me the Olympus 770, which is a 7.1 mega-pixel pocket sized camera. But what makes this camera unique is its ruggedness. It is built to take a drop of up to five feet AND shoot pics underwater up to 33 feet. Not too many cameras on the market can tout that!

Having a small, rugged camera will be ideal for our snow skiing trip. Often, I choose to leave my bulky Canon safely behind not wanting to harm it, or, for that matter, fall on it and possibly injure myself. I spent the next two hours playing with the camera trying to understand its basic functionality. However, before using, I’d need to get an XD memory card & a case. Mindy joked that I’d need to spend money to use my gift. J

Mindy & I stayed up until 10pm – actually, me a bit longer. I surfed the net for XD memory cards.
