Dad for Dinner
Happy 45th Kaiuse (brother Charles)
I was a little slow getting up, and I guess it was simply laziness. After all, I got plenty of sleep. I choked down my One-A-Day knock-off and had my toes tucked firmly under the lip of the sofa by 5:50am. I pushed out my sit-ups, then push-ups and curls before 6:00am. Ykraps and I were walking about the subdivision until 6:15am.
Back at home, I made some coffee and then relaxed in front of the PC for a short while reading the Daily OM and catching up on a few headlines. After packing my lunch, but before making my breakfast, I spent about ten minutes meditating. It was 7:00am when I got to frying my two eggs. I ate inside. Soon I was outdoors watering flowers, front and back.
Work went well, although, as usual, it was an extremely busy day. I stayed in close contact with Mindy throughout the day. She was grocery shopping and taking the kids to the pool. We had some unexpected storms blow through mid-morning/early afternoon. It was still sprinkling during my run, but the heavy stuff was already beyond us. Mindy advised that it rained hard at home, and judging from the radar, that appeared to be the case. Mindy invited my dad over for dinner – burgers on the grill.
I left for home around 5:10pm. I stopped at boat storage to try the repaired boat cover. It snapped up perfectly. I am very happy with the repair. Boat Bonnets did a great job. Dad pulled up just as I was exiting the Trooper. He brought several indoor plants that had been cared for by Sheila but that he had little desire to maintain. I was happy to take them off of his hands.
We chatted for a bit before I started the grill. I lit the grill and then took Ykraps on a walk. Mindy grilled the burgers on the stove while I roasted corn-on-the-cob & zucchini on the grill. Everything turned out as planned, and everything was tasty save for the zucchini. It was mushy and bland. Mindy cut the last piece of butterscotch pie that we brought home from her mom’s into two pieces. Dad had one and Mindy and I shared the other. It was good.
Dad stayed for a while visiting and playing with the kids after their return from an evening with Jimaken. Jacob was a bit unruly. I didn’t really appreciate his poor behavior. Add to that, a call from daughter Lindsey where she pretty much read both Mindy and I the riot act over her current situation. After dad left and the kids were in bed Mindy talked for a short while about Lindsey’s accusations and situation. We’re at a loss with how to help without enabling or without taking more responsibility for her problems than she does herself. We went to bed on that note.
