I slept a little better than I did the night before, sleeping in by design until 610am. The verdict's still out on the memory foam pillow. Definitely a much different feel, but not sure if that's good or bad. A glance Mindy's way, it looked like she cast it aside in favor of the old. A couple minutes later I was downstairs and on the deck checking out the weather. It was cloudy and cold - somewhere near freezing.
Inside, it was time to do calisthenics. I completed sit-ups, windmills, and push-ups. Already 625am, I headed upstairs with coffee for Mindy. Jacob was already up and getting ready for school. I headed back downstairs where I poured some coffee for myself then headed to my computers. My boss was out of the office so there wasn't a compelling enough reason to head into the office. Instead, I planned to work from home. The most glaring thing in the news was the weather. More pointedly, there was snow forecasted to fall late Monday night with low temps falling to near 20 by Tuesday night. Sounds like winter's making an early appearance. With temps that cold, the rest of summer will certainly be killed off. The inclement weather's supposed to start as rain and then turn to snow leaving us with an inch or so of accumulation come Tuesday morning.
Spent the rest of the early morning bouncing between work and home. Mindy was downstairs ready to head into work by 725am. Shared that they were having their annual Veteran's Day celebration, which they make a pretty big deal of at her school. Mindy asked if I would drop Bella's prescription at CVS if I was out that way. I planned to run a couple errands at lunch, so the possibility was strong.
I took Eiknarf on a walk between the time Mindy left for school and bus stop time. I was a little frustrated to find that we were out of poop sacks when Eiknarf took a dump. Dang it! As soon as we got back home I loaded the last roll of bags into the dispenser. Bella was busy whipping out her morning chores and striking them off her list. 755am came around fast. She, the pug and I soon headed out.
Chrissy talked about the Ava party she's hosting Sunday. She asked if Mindy's hosted any others yet. Yes, a few. The bus came pretty early. Once the bus was gone, Eiknarf and I headed back home where I promptly readied for a run. I headed out before 830am and ran the full 4.1 miles. I wore one of my new light weight, long-sleeved Nike wicking running shirts. I like the looser fit. I was a tad chilly immediately out the door but warmed quickly.
Back at the house and before heading inside, I dragged the trash can back to its proper resting place. Inside, I poured another cup of coffee then got busy with work. A couple minutes later I went to the kitchen for some food. Thought about making eggs but spotted the small portion of a leftover omelet from Saturday. I ate it cold. I could see disappointment in Eiknarf's eyes. Sorry!
I really was really eager to knock out those errands I alluded to earlier. Getting them out of the way sooner rather than later would be best. I planned on remaining in my running clothes so all I had to do was grab my stuff and head out. I headed to CVS first where I dropped Bella's prescription via the drive thru. Next, I headed around the corner to Target where I picked up three things: some doggie sacks, eye drops, and disposable razors. Onto to Camtronics in Grandview. I found the building OK. That was the easy part. Parking, however, was something else. Talked with the owner. He convinced me that it wasn't worth the repair. Said he'd have to replace the entire circuit board which by the time it was said and done, the cost would exceed the resell value of the camera. Said I'd be better off upgrading. I appreciated his input and thanked him for his time and effort. He also suggested that I quickly peruse the camera shop next door that not only specializes in Canon repairs but sells used cameras of all sorts. Hey, the might even have my model there. I checked. No such luck. It was just before 11am. I headed back home.
Unfortunately, I missed the 11am call. I didn't have anything too pressing to cover though. At home I got right back to work. Stayed focused on monthly reporting for pretty much the rest of the day. The kids were home at 245p and 345p. Just before Mindy got home, Bella excitedly shared that she wanted to call David some time that evening to thank him for serving in the military. Mindy was home a short bit later. Mindy gushed about her school's Veteran's Day celebration.
Initially, what to have for dinner was up in the air, but soon we had a consensus - leftovers. Not only did we have Sunday's roast, potatoes and carrots, but we also had those from Saturday evening at CBC. Mindy heated all of them. Jacob, by the way, was off playing with friends. Mindy sent a couple texts but without a response. She flipped the back spot lights on and off a couple times, too. Finally, just before I was going to go look for him, I could see his silhouette walking across the island's backyards. We ate dinner near 6pm. I had a little of everything, including the CBC leftovers. Almost forgot, Mindy made garden salads too. All the leftovers were good. I especially liked the CBC glazed carrots and cauliflower au gratin.
During dinner, Mindy suggested Wii bowling for a family night activity. Clean-up was next. That didn't take too long. Bella ran down to Makayla's during clean-up with orders to be home for family time by 730pm. Between clean-up and family time, I did some reading from my Kindle. Bella called just before coming home asking if Makayla could join us for family night Wii bowling. Mindy agreed. We got started shortly after both girls got to the house. Bella & Makayla took turns with one Mii. I hadn't played Wii in two years or more. Still have the same Mii, complete with eye glasses.
My bowling scores reflected my absence from the Wii. I'm pretty sure that I finished last both games. Mindy won both. That bothered Jacob. Still, a good time was had by all. Everybody was having fun. There was only one incident, and that's when Jacob took one of Mindy's turns. She was a bit over the top with her response. Thought she might rip his head off. She wasn't at all happy. And as a matter of fact, she even threatened to take his iPhone. She was working on a turkey with that throw and he ruined it.
Bella & Makayla played tennis after we finished bowling. I headed to the livingroom to do some more reading from my Kindle. Mindy joined me there a little later. She picked up and perused the Deepak book I finished a few weeks back. After Makayla headed home it was time for Bella to do some reading. She read in the living room with us. At 915pm Mindy let her get another snack after she complained of being hungry again. She was off to bed at 930pm. We stayed up until 945pm but then watched a little of MNF from bed until 10pm or so. Decided to place my old bed pillow under my memory foam pillow and see how that works. I joked that the new pillows feel like a heavy sheetcake.
