Hangover 3 - Vikings Disappoint ... again

I woke initially around 8am and got up and took 3 Advil. I didn’t feel very good and could wait to jump back into bed. I woke briefly a few more times but each time convinced myself to stay in bed longer in an effort to relieve hangover symptoms. I didn’t get up for good until somewhere between 1130am and noon. Felt tons better than I did at 8am but still a bit squeamish.

I felt good enough that I was craving coffee and food. I drank coffee and ate a bunch of leftover snack food in all of about five minutes. Meanwhile, Mindy was still busy putting our house back together. Admittedly, my recollection of how the night ended was a bit sketchy. It wasn’t too long before I dressed and headed out on a run. It was in the mid 50’s. I didn’t bother wearing a jacket. As anticipated, the run felt good and at least temporarily dulled any hangover symptoms.

However, I know from experience that within about an hour of returning I’d be feeling ill again. And sure enough, that’s what happened. I finished the run fine, but began feeling tired and weak within about a half an hour. I checked the NFL TV listings. Sure enough, the Viking Packer game was televised by Fox. I snuggled up on the sofa to watch, albeit with low expectations.

My craving for salty food and soda carried on through most of the day. I ate pretty much all afternoon. The Vikings started slow, getting behind 10-0. But just when I thought it was time to put a fork in them, Adrian Peterson saved the day. He was running like a man possessed. He had 170 yards in the first half alone and the Vikings had a 14-10 lead at halftime.

Mindy left me at home with the kids, Lindsey and the boys while she went Xmas shopping. But I didn’t really mind. I didn’t plan to move to far from the sofa all day. The Vikings got the ball to start the 2nd half and Adrian P. picked up right where he left off running for 52 yards on one carry. Down on the packers ten yardline and preparing to score, our foolish quarterback threw an ill-advised pass that was intercepted in the endzone. Idiot! Not sure what he thought he saw!

Still, the Vikings managed to hold the Packers to just a field goal and still lead 14-13 for most of the 3rd quarter. The Vikings drove into the redzone once again but with the same results, an interception after another ill-advised pass. I was frustrated. Wasn’t even close. The Packers then put together an 11 minute
drive, the longest of the entire NFL season – any team. That pretty much sealed the deal. We lost. Playoffs? Playoffs? Who said anything about playoffs?

Lindsey finished up her laundry around 515pm and headed for home with the boys. Bella and the island girls were busy playing cards on the livingroom most of the afternoon. Once home from shopping, Mindy warmed subs and leftovers for dinner. I ate half a big sub and washed it all down with Orange soda. No matter how much I ate I just couldn’t seem to get full. However, after dinner my stomach finally felt full, actually too full.

It was a quick day. After dinner I resorted to watching a few science programs I DVR’d the week prior. I had no desire to watch SNF. I kept thinking that I’d be in bed by 8-830pm. But as the evening waned I seemed to get a second wind. I joined Mindy already in bed around 925pm but laid there with my eyes wide open and my mind racing. I was a little frustrated because I was physically tired. Mindy wasn’t too happy that I got up and out of bed and headed back downstairs.

I played on the PC for a while but then headed to the family and did some reading. That helped make me sleepy. I read about 8 pages of Super Brain before returning to bed, only this time for good.
