Taking Flight!
I woke around 430am feeling surprisingly well rested. I tried unsuccessfully to fall back asleep eventually realizing it fruitless. Somewhere near 5am I rolled out of bed, brushed my teeth, then headed downstairs. My breathing felt a little constricted, but somewhat better than it was the past few mornings. I thought about starting coffee but still wasn't convinced that I was done sleeping.
I logged onto my PC first checking email then editing my blog. After about 40 minutes online I headed to the sofa where I turned on the TV to the Science channel in anticipation of a program on the life of Einstein that was slated to begin at 6am. I got to see about the first 15 minutes before falling asleep. I slept until 715am and then fell asleep again until 745am when I got up once and for all.
I started some coffee then carried on with my morning like most other Saturday's by spending more time online and updating my blog with the entries I edited earlier. The girls had been making noise in Bella's room since around 6am. But sometime after 8am the noise stopped. I guessed they fell back asleep.
Bella let Eiknarf out of her room and brought to me downstairs. I fooled around online until almost 9am when I took Mindy some coffee just before taking Eiknarf out for a walk. Mindy was grateful for the coffee. I shared that I had already checked us in for our late afternoon flight and was rewarded with group "A" boarding passes. I chose not to check Tommy in not knowing that we'd see him prior to the gate. You print a boarding pass and you're done. You can't get another at the ticket counter. Eiknarf I walked casually to the west where she took care of business. I saw that one of our neighbors has a 2010 Chevy Cobalt for sale. Says only 4300 miles. Odd! I may asked what they're asking if I see them. Can't hurt to ask. But if I've learned anything, it's buyer beware!
Mindy and the girls were up by 930am and all downstairs. I heard the girls ask Mindy to make pancakes. I dressed and left for a run around 10am. It had just started to rain and was expected to keep it up for t he better part of the day, the first such rain in about a week. Because it was raining, I opted to run in my old running shoes. No way I wanted the maiden voyage in my new ones would be in the rain.
I ran three miles in moderate rain wearing some back-up running gear. I actually have multiple sets. I was comfy throughout, the temperature near 37 degrees. Felt a little cooler. Back at home, the kids were finishing up their pancakes. I planned to have some but waited a while. While thinking about it, I sent Tommy & Darwin texts sharing that they may want to do an online check-in to insure preferred seating. Also reminding them that our seats from CMH to Chicago will be out seats all the way to Portland, too. Comfort is a priority on the final leg, especially.
Darwin responded quickly. Tommy did too, reminding me that his PC is down. I called him to ask if he wanted me to do it, but also shared the potential for problems. He opted that I not. He said he doesn't care where he sits. Reminds me of how dad talks about UK - doing all his prep last minute. Wasn't even sure about check-in bags. That's so not me. :)
I enjoyed a couple pancakes and leftover bacon form last Sunday around 11am. I started organizing my carry-on gear soon after, and then added some photos to my blog and even had time to write this entry. More later.
