Anticipating Olivia

I was up on time and eager to close out my work week after four short days. I completed my exercise routine then headed outdoors with Ykraps. It was chilly once again. The morning nip is becoming progressively more advanced to be sure. The freakishly warm weather from Wednesday was g-o-n-e!

My run went smoothly. There were scrambled eggs awaiting my return. I enjoyed them. Mindy made me more lunch food even though I still had some at work. In addition to what was already there, and then what she packed this AM, I also packaged up the leftover strip steak fearing that it would otherwise go to waste.

Mindy & Bella left at their usual time. I walked Jacob to the bus stop at 7:58am. We tossed the football for a few minutes prior to the bus pulling up. I left for work in the Trooper. I was in high spirits. Work was quite manageable. I used the slower pace to give my office a much needed cleaning. I hadn’t dusted the shelves or vacuumed in months. I took my time and gave it a thorough cleaning. A couple weeks ago I brought in some Fantastic and Windex along with an old diaper just for such an occasion.

At lunch time I paid a visit to Home Depot. I looked at several things, including their paint. I bought nothing but spent a good 45 minutes shopping around. I heated up my leftover steak when I returned. I ate my vegetable medley too. The afternoon sailed by. Before I knew it, it was time to head for home. I made a quick stop at Kroger to pick-up a small birthday cake for GD Olivia. She’d be two on Friday. Hard to believe. Ashley was supposed to bring her over to spend the night around 7pm. After looking at all their cakes, I decided on 6 brightly colored Halloween-looking cup cakes.

I wasn’t all that hungry and decided to skip a formal dinner. Mindy suggested heating up some leftovers. Daughter Lindsey caught wind of Olivia’s visit and called to see if Lil’ Rocky could come over too. Sure. We only asked that she make arrangements with Ashley so that we didn’t have to do the pick-up. Ashley showed around 7pm. Olivia was more than excited to see us. Mindy had a bag full of b-day gifts for her – mostly clothes but one toy – a doll for two year olds. She seemed uninterested in the clothes gifts but was a little excited to play with the baby. She’s not at the “gift appreciation” age yet. However, we knew that Ashley appreciated it.

The kids enjoyed their cupcakes and ice cream. Rocky needed to go home around 8:00pm. Unlike our kids, he had school on Friday. He asked that Mindy run him home. When they left, Olivia cried big tears for Mimi (Mindy). That’s a first. Mindy wasn’t gone too long, though. When she returned, she got all three kids ready for bed in a hurry. And even though Olivia insisted that she wasn’t ready for bed, she went to sleep within three minutes of Mindy placing her in bed.

After the kids were out, I we relaxed in the family room for a while. I drank a couple Jack & Cokes. We headed for bed around 10pm.
