I woke Friday morning to a repeat of Wednesday only this time the snow was barely coming dow,n and a mere fresh inch laid quietly on the ground. Any hope of a snow day seemed a stretch. I let Mindy know as I headed downstairs to ready for my day.
I breezed through my exercises and then headed out for a walk with Ykraps. The snow fall picked up significantly while on our walk. It was nice! After returning home for coffee, I settled down in front of the PC like any other morning. For kicks I decided to check school closings. I was surprised to find SWCS on the list – the only major school district closed. There were some 2 hr delays in rural districts, but no other closings. I delivered the news to Mindy who hadn’t yet received an official call from her “snow chain”. Needless to say, she was elated! I was jealous.
I went about the rest of my morning prep leaving for a snowy run around 6:30am. Word had it that we could get up to 4 inches and then another round later tonight. Let it snow!
After my fun run I shoveled the drive. By then it had all but stopped. Turns out, we didn’t even get 2 inches. Oh well! I agreed to take Jacob to the bus leaving Mindy at home in her jammies. I left to work minutes later. Mindy explained that she’d be taking Bella Xmas shopping pretty much all day.
Work was busy, but when isn’t it. The temperature hovered near freezing all day long. The streets were completely clear by departure time. I spoke with Mindy earlier asking her to take an empty jug to Barley’s to pick me up some fresh IPA. To our dismay, they weren’t able to refill the IPA into jugs because of too much carbonation. What? I was disappointed having a serious craving for some. I quipped that I’d simply have to go to Barley’s later without her.
I was tired and a little aggravated by the time I got home. Not sure exactly why. I took a nap while Mindy and the kids fetched a pizza. I felt tons better afterwards. I primped and left for Barley’s at 7:25pm. I hadn’t headed to Barley’s by my lonesome in quite a while. I called Tommy along my drive. He was just preparing to head that way himself. Cool!
Barley’s had a comparably light Friday crowd. For this I was pleased. I drank IPA- go figure! Later, once Tommy arrived, I ordered some dinner as did Bob Imber. Interestingly enough, Bob I. was flying solo too, and so was (Bob & Carol) Bob. A rare occurrence, indeed. We stayed until 10pm or so. My tab was significantly lower than it might have been had Mindy been there.
Mindy was still up just finishing wrapping Xmas presents. She was ready for bed, but I talked her into staying up while I drank another beer.
