Back to work after hardly a weekend at all. I was up on time but forgot to prep coffee the night before. I had to correct that faux pas before doing anything else. Once our morning coffee was brewing I was able to start my exercise routine in earnest. Sit-ups finally out of the way, I jumped up to my PC and checked the weather and a few headlines. At 555am I ripped off 53 push-ups then prepped a steaming hot cup of fur-fru coffee then kicked back in front of the PC for round two.
At 615am I left the PC behind and prepped a cup of coffee for Mindy before heading upstairs to wake her from her Sunday night slumber. Predictably, she asked that I crank up the heat. It was a clear morning and already daybreak was on the horizon. I was eager to run in the spring-like weather. The current temperature was resting near 33 degrees with an expected high in the mid 50s.
I split the next 15 minutes between meditation and stretching. At 640am I headed out for a morning run. I ran four miles working up one heck of sweat and wishing to shed my gloves and ear covers. Mindy's car wasn't frosted over but she had her keys waiting by the door anyway. I started it for her if for no other reason than to eliminate the chill.
My eggs were ready. Bella, Mindy & I enjoyed our brief time together eating breakfast. Jacob was already done and back in his room. Mindy left for school at 730am reminding Bella to go to Noah's (different bus) after school. I ridded the table then headed up for shower.
While toweling off I spotted a good-sized buck across the street in the neighbor's yard. He must've had a four-point rack. I hollered for Bella to come quick. I knew she'd be eager to see it. Spotting deer is common, but a male with a rack is rare.
We headed out for the bus stop at 757am. I chatted briefly with Chrissy while the kids climbed all over the remaining piles of dirty snow still heaped up from February's record setting dump. Judging by the ten day forecast, it'll be gone by the weekend. Not only will the high temps reach into the 60s, but we're not expected to dip below freezing for the next ten days/nights either. Good bye MRM!
After seeing the kids onto the bus, I headed off to work at 815am. My boss scheduled the day off. I had to cover his responsibilities as well as my own. Needless to say, that made for a tough day. As expected, I didn't get much of chance for a lunch. Worked straight thru. I chatted with our VP briefly sharing among other things my perspective of on-call duties. He listened. I just needed to vent.
I left for home around 530pm. Mindy was frying burgers on the stove. I was a little surprised, expecting leftovers instead. After all, we had plenty. The kids were outside playing with the neighbors - another sure sign that spring is here - warmer temps and extended daylight. Mindy broke our golden rule of homework before play with the promise it would get done immediately following dinner. I wasn't so sure that was a good idea, but trusted Mindy's instincts. I know she won't let it become habit.
The burgers were very good. I ate some tater tots too. I had to laugh when Jacob tried convincing Mindy to let him go back out to play after dinner in lieu of homework. He badgered her to the point of discipline. She won, of course. I bit my tongue, choosing to stay out of the debate.
To streamline the evenings activities, Bella did her reading with me after doing math with Mindy. The kids both took showers and were ready for bed a little after 8pm. And just like the night before, Mindy & I prepped for an extra early bedtime ourselves.
