3rd Person
Thursday’s gloomy start weather-wise was no excuse for an equally gloomy attitude. Besides, at least it was warm. I was up at my usual 5:30am and going about my routine. Because of yesterday’s potluck, today would be my tuna fish day.
After finishing my breakfast and making my lunch I had an early morning visitor show up at my door. It was my dad. He stopped by with pictures of his recent Florida vacation to share. I had to laugh when he told me the story of how despite his brother’s (my uncle) insistence that he get a CD made of his photos he didn’t because he didn’t understand why anyone would want music added to their pictures(only my dad). He’s about as low tech as they come! He still views a touch tone phone as high-tech and only recently got rid of the rotary dial phone. He uses an abacus to balance his checkbook and still marvels at the gasoline engine and TV pong.
His pictures were fascinating and it looks like they had plenty of fun. He shared that the weather was ideal – almost 80 and sunny everyday. I offered to scan the photos so that UK can have access to them, although he didn’t leave them. In turn, I showed him some of the pictures form my Oregon trip.
Dad left sometime around 7:45am. I had yet to even shower. I proceeded to ready for work with just a bit more urgency. Despite the visit and late start, I still made it to work before 8:30am. During the morning hours we had a few breaks in the clouds which whetted my appetite for an early spring. I am a spring-aholic! Once I get the slightest taste, I just can’t stop.
Work was fast and steady. It kept me motoring all day. Thank God for lunchtime. My lunchtime run netted temperatures hovering around 57 degrees with mostly cloudy skies. All in all, pretty good running conditions. It was a good break!
The afternoon in the office went fast. I was able to depart sometime shortly after 5pm. I had to hurry home because I had a guitar lesson planned & scheduled. I hadn’t met with Josh since February 9th. I finished my evening routine in short order – at least the required items like Ykraps & coffee prep. Josh arrived a bit early but sat in his car until 6pm.
Truth be told, I wasn’t that motivated for my lesson at the outset. I have difficulty transitioning from the work-rush mode to a relaxing guitar playing mode. But I also know that once we get going, I am digging it. Tonight was no exception. First, I demonstrated mastery of the two scales I learned over the month, and then he gave me free reign to begin writing some songs and progressions in the key of ‘G’. Fun stuff!
switch-up
After Josh departed, ‘he’ called the princess to see if she was still up for a visit from Jimmy. She was. ‘He’ arrived at her place somewhere close to 7:45pm. Jacob and Bella were both excited to see ‘him’. That was nice! ‘He’ helped Mindy get them to bed and then took to raiding her refrigerator. Why, ‘he’s’ not sure, but went after some potato chips which is entirely out of character for ‘him’. If nothing else, it proves that once you interject a few carbs, your body starts demanding even more. ‘He’ suspect that if the mind is allowed to choose blindly, It’d be back to a diet riddled with refined carbohydrates and sugar in no time flat. It won’t happen, however. No sir! ‘He’ has too much will power. Thank goodness!
What do you think of the ‘second person’ thing? ‘He’ likes it! :)
While munching some leftover Minelli’s pizza, we tuned to American Idol for the elimination rounds. Not much singing but you get to see who leaves and who remains. Good TV.
‘He’ left Mindy’s around 9:45pm. Once home, ‘he’ buttoned up down stairs then retreated to 'his' room to read and sleep.
