Realistically my get-up time bounces between 5:30 & 6:00am. Of course, I feel better when it’s on the closer half of 5:30am. Today I managed myself out of bed nearer 6:00am (5:50am). I could’ve played catch-up, but when I have done so in the past, most of my energy is spent worrying rather than actually catching up. Wisely, I have learned not to worry so much but instead focus on end goals, which include, but are not limited to being at work on time. Along with a timely arrival I must be in an accomplished, productive mood. And this can only come about by addressing each of my dimensions: body, mind, and soul. I accomplish this through meditation, reflection, and slowing down to smell the roses. I try to take my time and feeling the day ahead while on my morning walk with Ykraps. Furthermore, I read the Daily OM, and eat a healthy breakfast and pack a healthy lunch. All very good things. But it’s not the amount of things I do but rather the quality time spent doing them. Then, If I feel good then my pace is quicker anyhow. Tuesday was just that sort of day. Despite waking a tad late, I managed through my routine and still made it to work on time. The work day was busy and consuming of my time. And while I had just a couple issues on my plate, they were large ones. Still, come 12:20pm I was able to break away for a mid-winter run. The temperature was exactly 28 degrees when I left my office, so I dressed accordingly. My run was uneventful but still rewarding. I worked up quite sweat even though it was chilly. The afternoon was just as busy as my morning. A very good thing! No sooner did I return from lunch and before I knew it the day was over. I got out of the office around 5:10pm. I didn’t have any planned stops and so I made it home right at 5:30pm. Mindy had picked up some addition al food items for our dinner and I committed to being at her place around 6:30pm. That left me an hour to do my routine evening tasks that realistically take only 15 minutes. My operational efficiency left me time to upload the day prior’s blog entry as well as pics for the past two days. I arrived at Mindy’s at 6:25pm. For the record, it took 14 minutes from the minute I pulled out of my driveway. That’s probably about average too. You can always count on a traffic at the Hilliard-Rome Rd/Renner Rd intersection. Sometimes it’s worse than others, but there’s always a delay of some measure. Upon my arrival Mindy pointed out that she had proudly found the USB cord for her Nikon digital. We’ve been operating without it for months, using my printer’s built in card reader in its place. She found it, go figure, behind her PC tower. :) Dinner, she reported, was just about ready. But, oops, somebody forgot to set the oven to bake after selecting the convection mode for the pork chops! Looked like we wouldn’t be eating for yet another hour. Mindy decided to use the time wisely by prepping the children for bed (bath and jammies). I kept and eye toward the food and helped entertain the kids between bath and bed. And by the way, they had their dinner earlier. Jacob and I entertained ourselves with a duel of swords. Bella showed off her ability to hold her head underwater for an extended period of time. For three years of age, she has no fear whatsoever. Perhaps it’s the Guatemalan genes? Maybe she’ll be an Olympic cliff diver some day. Soon the chops were done to my liking. We finally sat for dinner sometime around 8pm. We had pork chops, mashed red skin potatoes, sauerkraut, and rolls. Wile munching, we enjoyed the American Idol try-outs from Boston. Just too damn funny! One kid blamed his poor performance on having to pee, so the judges sent him to pee and told him he could come back. He did, only this time he sang worse, and they told him so! You get the idea. We spent the next hour or so on the couch relaxing. I left for home at 10:05pm, and was home by 10:20pm. There I got myself ready for bed and then read myself to sleep by 11:00pm.
